FILASSMO EXECUTIVE OFFICERS’ MEETING MINUTES

Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Howard Redmon’s Residence

Present: Howard & Conchita Redmon, Joel & Faye Reynaldo, Floy & April Matias, Nora Sanders, John & Jam Webber, Dan & Andrea Fronner, Ednor Sebag, Noel Duque, Jeanette Collantes

I. Treasurer’s Report

$1,922.42 in the bank account

72 families paid membership fees last December (email list provided by Tita Ching)

II. Old Business

Open positions that we need to fill: Vice President

Suggestion: 2 Vice-Presidents: Internal (within Springfield) and External (outside Springfield)

No prospects as for now

Membership Committee, Treasurer, & Secretary: work on accurate list of FILASSMO members & non-members (for collecting monies during events); determine how to increase membership

Current Ideas: Mixer (Bring a Friend)

Report from Easter Celebration Committee

Title: Spring Equinox Celebration @ Lake Springfield; Invitations have been prepared by Tita Ching (invitation will be placed in a 5x7 paper to be sent to the members and other Filipinos within the area)

Time: 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

$200 deposit has been paid ($50 can be reimbursed when we clean up); Entrance Fee for non-members: bumped to $2 per person

FILAASMO Chef contest- should be included in the invitation

Entrance Fee: No Entrance fee is required. Please cook for 10-20 people so all attendees may sample the expertise of the Entrants.

Prize: apron, chef’s hat, & sash---Suggestions included getting a donation for a cooking pan as a prize

Children Safety during the Easter Egg Hunt: Sgt-at-Arms in-charge; Andrea & Jam will help; other men are encouraged to help out with safety

Entertainment includes Visayan/Tagalog songs (practice on Saturday afternoon, February 25 @ Jam Webber’s house): Nora, Tita Ching, Jam, Floy, Noel, Joel & Faye

Food Assignments: A-J (main dish); K-R (desserts); S-Z (rice, vegetables, & drinks)

Easter Egg Hunt Candies: need help from everyone to load plastic eggs. (Empty plastic eggs are with Jeanette Collantes); contact Nora Sanders if you want to help with the candies- was not mentioned in meeting, but sent through email

New web person: Andrea Fronner; Webmaster: Faye Reynaldo

Minutes from last meeting were up on the website; pictures (2006 to current) are also up on the website

All ExeCom members are encouraged to visit every once in awhile

III. New Business

Fundraising Suggestions by Noel Duque---will provide a proposal to the Organization for approval

Palace Theater (show some Filipino movies)

Invite the Madrigal Singers

June 16- Family Fiesta

Chairperson will be the new President for 2013

I. Open Positions to be Filled for Executive Officers

● Vice President (responsible for events, venues, getting programs together, & projects and services):

Unfilled

● Sergeant at Arms (responsible for peace & order): filled by Dan Frohner

● Adviser to the Vice President (assists the Vice President): filled by Josie Reyes Grund

● 3 Board Members: filled by Dr. Leoni Rivera, Norma Hall, & Nora Sanders

● Budget Committee- by Treasurer Jeanette Collantes

● Membership Committee- assisted by John & Jam Webber

II. Suggestions for Executive Officer Positions

● Consensus was that there should be two (2) Vice-Presidents: Internal & External, but for now, we have

only (1) Vice President

III. New Business

● Next event by FILAASMO: Easter Get-together

○ Tentative Date: March 31, 2012 (cannot be the week before because of Spring Break & cannot be

the week after because of Easter Holidays)

○ Tentative Venue: Lake Springfield (will be checked by Dr. Conchita Redmon)

○ Theme: “New Beginnings”

○ Suggestions for event: make it into a party, instead of just Easter Egghunt; Easter Egghunt will be

part of the program

○ Committee for Planning Easter Get-Together:

■ Dr. Conchita Redmon, Nora Sanders, Josie Grund, Jam & John Webber, Floy Matias,

Dan & Andrea Fronner (Schedule of Meeting: February 4, 2012, either at Library Center

or Club House)

● FILAASMO Website (www.filaasmo.com)

○ Will be taken over by Secretary: Faye Reynaldo (Webmaster)

○ Jerry Murphy has the server

○ Current status: Website is up, but not updated

○ Local Web Person for Update & Training: Mike Woods

■ Contract is signed (includes 1 person to be trained)

■ Asking for current roster of members

● Consensus is that members’ will be posted, and will wait until they call

FILAASMO to say that they don’t want their names on the website

● Roster with addresses and contact information should be uploaded to a secure

password-protected area in the website

■ Website also needs current photos of FILAASMO events (acquire from executive

officers)
